Hogle-Ireland Chronology

Below is a brief history of how Hogle-Ireland, Inc. began. It highlights a few of the company's achievements and monumental moments.

January 1, 1988

Larry Hogle started the company with the intent of doing only private development and entitlement work. Originally the company was only handling entitlement projects for various private sector clients. After about one year, the company, Hogle and Associates, expanded their services to also include work for public agencies. Upon opening the office, Larry had only one other employee - Scarlett Ball.

1989

Hogle and Associates moved out of their shared office space and established an independent office in Irvine.

When the City of Yucaipa was incorporated in 1989, Hogle-Ireland was contracted to establish and staff their entire Planning Department. Paul Ireland and Pam Steele, along with a few other Hogle-Ireland staff persons, provided services to the City for about two years. Hogle-Ireland helped the City with transferring of projects/documents from the County, hiring City Planning staff, and developing departmental processes and procedures, among other things.

1990

On December 1, 1990, the company was renamed Hogle-Ireland Development Consulting Group, which was a partnership between Larry Hogle and Paul Ireland.

Hogle and Associates continues building strong relations with the planning community in southern California and is ready to open a second office. In September, the Riverside office opened to cater toward the growing demand for consulting services in the Inland Empire.

1992

Hogle-Ireland Development Consulting Group is incorporated and becomes Hogle-Ireland, Inc.

1993

Hogle-Ireland won a contract for the newly-incorporated Town of Truckee. It was the largest project the company ever had at that time. Paul, along with other Hogle-Ireland staff, rented a house and provided services for approximately one year. As many are aware, Paul is not too fond of the cold - this assignment certainly showed his dedication to the firm! Town staff was grateful for the firm's service, which was expressed in a letter stating their "never to die gratitude" and what a great decision it was to work with Hogle-Ireland.

1994

The Hogle-Ireland logo and identity package is redesigned to reflect a 'current and fresh look' of the mid 1990's and distinguish the company as a dynamic firm that provides a range of planning services.

1995

Paul Ireland is featured in a Los Angeles Times article that discusses Urban Planning. The article mentions the multiple facets of planning such as qualifications necessary to become an urban planner, the pros and cons of planning, and legislations that affect the decision-making process. Paul eloquently stated, "I like that it gives me an opportunity to create and to have some influence in the world in which I live."

Mike Thiele and Pam Steele are made partners of Hogle-Ireland Inc. In April of 2006, Jerry Guarracino and Nelson Miller are promoted to Principal.

2007

This was another big year for Hogle-Ireland! Over the years, Hogle-Ireland has established itself as a successful planning consulting firm. It gained numerous clients throughout southern California, particularly in the Orange County, Riverside County, and Coachella Valley regions. In July 2007, Hogle-Ireland opened a fourth office in Pasadena, making Hogle-Ireland's presence known in Los Angeles County and thus expanding its services over a larger geographic area. Laura Stetson serves as the Principal heading the Pasadena office.

In addition to Hogle-Ireland's new office in Pasadena, the company was also growing out of its Riverside office in late 2007. Hogle-Ireland's Riverside office moves to a larger, more expansive facility located in Riverside. Once again, the company took the initiative to manage the interior designing and tenant improvements.

2008

Hogle-Ireland has accomplished a lot over the past two decades. The company grew from only two people to nearly 100, all the while earning a number of awards for its excellent service in the planning community. Despite all the news about the economy moving into a bear market, the company still sees continued growth and anticipates more success.
