Client: Rancho Simi Recreation and Parks District
Project Scope: Sinaloa Park Community Outreach, Entitlement Permitting, Environmental Documentation, Market Analysis and Operations Programming and Project Management
Project Initiated: May 2007
Project Completed: Anticipated 2010
Project Description
The Rancho Simi Recreation and Parks District was created in 1961 to serve the parks and recreational programming needs of the citizens of Simi Valley and Oak Park. It enjoys a well respected Board and a forward thinking staff that currently serves over 140,000 people and provides programs, sport leagues and classes for all ages and interests. Among the facilities offered by the District are forty-six parks, a BMX track, an equestrian facility and two golf courses. The District had been considering, for a number of years, the redevelopment of its aging 40 acre Sinaloa Park (known primarily for its 9 hole executive golf course). Hogle-Ireland utilized website technologies that empowered the community by giving them a platform to voice there opinion and comment on the proposed plan. Through the use of online forums and mailing lists the community was able to take an active role in the development of the park reuse plan. |
